Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the notification service, website and applications provided by Village Alerts (“Village Alerts,” “we,” “us” or “our”). Village Alerts is used by homeowners associations, property managers and similar organizations (“Community Associations”) to send notifications to their residents. By opting in to receive messages or by using Village Alerts, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. The service

Village Alerts delivers community notifications — such as emergency notices, utility shut-offs, maintenance, street cleaning, gate and pool notices, meetings and events — by text message, voice call, email and mobile app notification. The content of each notification is written and sent by your Community Association.

2. SMS Terms

  • Program name: Village Alerts community alerts.
  • Program description: recurring text messages with notices from your Community Association, sent through Village Alerts.
  • How to opt in: sign up with your mobile number at villagealerts.com/opt-in and check the consent box, or text START to +1 (434) 694-2067.
  • Message frequency varies depending on your community’s announcements and any urgent notices.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Charges are billed by and payable to your mobile service provider.
  • Opt out: reply STOP at any time to cancel. You will receive one final message confirming you have been unsubscribed, and no further texts will be sent unless you opt in again.
  • Help: reply HELP for help, or email support@villagealerts.com.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your wireless carrier and device.
  • Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or of your residency.
  • Your number: you confirm you are the account holder of the mobile number you opt in, or have the account holder’s permission. If you change or give up your number, reply STOP first or let us know.
  • Privacy: we do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy.

3. Voice, email and app notifications

Your Community Association may also send notifications by recorded or computer-generated voice call, by email and through the Village Alerts mobile app. You can stop emails with the unsubscribe link, turn off app notifications in your device settings, or contact us to stop voice calls.

4. Not an emergency service

Village Alerts is a communication tool, not an emergency response service. Messages may be delayed or not delivered. Do not rely on Village Alerts for life-safety alerts. In an emergency, call 911.

5. Community administrators

Text messages go only to residents who have opted in themselves, on the Village Alerts sign-up page or by texting START to +1 (434) 694-2067; administrators cannot subscribe a resident to text messages on the resident’s behalf. If you use Village Alerts to send notifications on behalf of a Community Association, you agree to message only people who have given the consent required by law, to honor opt-out requests, to keep your login credentials secure, and not to use Village Alerts for marketing, unlawful, harassing or misleading messages.

6. Disclaimers

Village Alerts is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or that every message will be delivered.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Village Alerts will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from delayed, undelivered or inaccurate messages.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continuing to receive messages or use Village Alerts after an update means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
